Abstract

The low speaking skills of class V students at SD Negeri 8 Paccelang show that the quality of class V students' speaking skills still needs improvement, including they are less active in speaking, the majority of them are still passive during the learning process. To overcome this problem, a quantitative research approach was carried out using a round robin type cooperative learning model assisted by puzzle media. The research subjects were 25 fifth grade elementary school students. The data collection techniques used are observation and tests. The research data sources were obtained from observations of learning implementation as well as data from students' speaking skills test results. The results of the research can be seen from the results of the descriptive analysis, the pretest is in the medium category with an average score (mean) of 73 and the posttest is in the high category with an average score (mean) of 83. Meanwhile, the results of the inferential analysis show that the sig value is (2 -tailed) of 0.00, meaning it is smaller than the significance level of 0.05 (0.00 ≤ 0.05) and the calculated tvalue = 6.425 and ttable = 1.710, so we get t calculated ≥ t table or 6.425 ≥ 1,710, so it is drawn the conclusion that H1 is accepted. This means that there is an influence of the round robin type cooperative learning model assisted by puzzle media on speaking skills
