Pendidikan Multikultural (Kajian Histori)

Multicultural education is a pedagogical approach aimed at creating an inclusive, equitable learning environment that values cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. With the rise of globalization and intercultural interactions, multicultural education has become increasingly relevant in preparing younger generations to live in diverse societies. This study reviews the development of multicultural education from classical to modern times across various countries, including the United States, Europe, Australia, and Indonesia. The findings show that while each country has its unique approach, the core principles of multicultural education remain consistent: respect for diversity and a commitment to fostering equity in education. Despite numerous challenges, multicultural education offers significant opportunities to build more harmonious societies that embrace differences. This study provides insights into best practices and challenges in implementing multicultural education, emphasizing the importance of values such as equality, tolerance, and inclusivity in modern education systems.
