BELAJAR MATEMATIKA DENGAN PERMAINAN TRADISIONAL GALASIN, APAKAH BISA?

Kebudayaan yang dihubungkan dengan matematika dapat dijadikan sumber pembelajaran matematika, salah satunya yaitu permainan tradisional galasin. Dengan permainan ini, dapat mengurangi persepsi buruk siswa terhadap matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan unsur matematika dengan memfokuskan aspek fundamental matematis yang terdapat dalam permainan tradisional galasin. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan model Spradley (etnografi), dilaksanakan di SMP Gusti Wijaya dan di Desa Sunggal Kanan, Medan Sunggal pada bulan Desember 2022. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan wawanca, dan observasi. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa belajar matematika bisa dilakukan dengan permainan galasin, dan dipertegas oleh aspek fundamental matematis yaitu (1) Terdapat aspek counting yakni operasi bilangan (penjumlahan dan pembagian); (2) terdapat aspek measuring meliputi ukuran luas dan keliling arena bermain; (3) terdapat aspek designing pada aktivitas kekongruenan dalam menentukan bentuk dan ukuran setiap kotak; (4) terdapat aspek locating meliputi transformasi geometri yakni translasi dan refleksi, serta hubungan antar garis; (5) aspek playing meliputi strategi, aturan, dan bentuk pelanggaran dalam permainan; (6) aspek explaining meliputi filosofi, fungsi, dan manfaat.
