Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi SPLDV berdasarkan perbedaan gender dengan teori Newman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Siswa kelas VIII di sebuah SMP di Surakarta tahun ajaran 2022/2023 menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini. Analisis secara mendalam dilakukan pada tiga siswa laki-laki dan tiga siswa perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dalam tiga tahap yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, siswa laki-laki lebih banyak melakukan kesalahan daripada siswa perempuan. Mayoritas siswa laki-laki melakukan kesalahan keterampilan proses dan penulisan jawaban dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 44,44% dan 47,22%, sedangkan mayoritas siswa perempuan melakukan kesalahan keterampilan proses dan penulisan jawaban dengan rata-rata persentase masing-masing sebesar 25%. Pada siswa laki-laki, kesalahan keterampilan proses dilakukan dalam bentuk ketidaksempurnaan dalam melakukan tahapan operasi hitung hingga selesai. Sementara itu, siswa perempuan tidak dapat melakukan komputasi secara menyeluruh. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu guru mengetahui kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita dan menjadi acuan pemilihan metode pembelajaran yang tepat.
