ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH DITINJAU DARI TAHAPAN POLYA DAN NEWMAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang ditinjau dari tahapan Polya dan Newman serta mengetahui kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika . Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Banjar Margo yang berjumlah 60 siswa yang terdiri dari 18 siswa berkemampuan rendah, 30 siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 12 siswa berkemampuan tinggi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui tes dan wawancara yang kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut, diperoleh bahwa rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa belum mencapai 50%. Jika ditinjau dari tahapan Polya kemampuan pemecahan masalah adalah sebesar 30,5% sedangkan jika ditinjau dari tahapan Newman adalah sebesar 47,6%. Adapun yang menyebabkan sulitnya siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah adalah kurangnya pembiasaan mengerjakan soal yang menuntut kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan tahapan yang lengkap dan kurangnya minat siswa terhadap matematika karena materi di buku teks cenderung sulit dipahami sehingga mengakibatkan kurangnya literasi membaca siswa.
